Were at 64% on Kickstarter!
"Psycho Sex Dolls" has been shot and edited, and I'm getting ready to start releasing it over the next few months. However, there are some costs when releasing, so
On a low budget or budget film, the costs are HUGE! The same cost as the film. However, on tiny micro budget films like this, it's more of a grass roots, slow social burn approach to market. Building a micro budget franchise helps, because the making of new sequels helps to promote the previous and such.
Most films these days go straight to streaming, so the theatrical model is not really cost effective at my level, unless you are a studio. And even at that, they also put some films out straight to streaming. Look at "Roadhouse" It cost $85m and went straight to Amazon Prime Video.
My point, I have no problems straight to streaming for my micro budget niche film. In fact, it's a blessing we can even do that to get our small films out there. However, it's also good to have your film available for theatrical. Potential festival screenings and DIY screenings, underground Q&A screenings to generate publicity.
To be ready for theatrical, you need an audio sound mix. The film is ready for watching on TV's, Computers, iPads, and phones, but there's some extra costs for a theatrical sound mix. Also, festival submission costs and some very strategic niche advertising costs and such.
This is why I have launched a kickstarter to try and raise the final funds for this first film in the franchise. If I raise more than the target, (Stretch goals) then that will also go towards the sequel film. Which I already have some investors interested in.
