7 DAY KICKSTARTER FOR "THE DOLLS" FILM

7 DAY KICKSTARTER FOR "THE DOLLS" FILM

"The Dolls" starts shooting in Glasgow from the 5th October.

The plan was to shoot the whole film, or at least most of it, and certainly all the scenes with my lead cast. The shoot date is not changing, as I'm pulling all the film together for that start date. I'm locked in with the club I'm shooting in, and an apartment and other locations are all booked.

However, I'm £3k short of the budget. Which might not seem like a lot, but it makes the difference between losing a LOT of scenes. This happened from a kickstarter a few weeks back, where a bigger backer never followed through with a pledge. Which has happened before. Most backers are great, but you do get a few individuals that pledge big, and don't pay.

I'm already putting some of my own money into this, and I have to stop my day job commercial video work, so I can prep and shoot the film over the next month. So I need to move fast to solve this.

If I don't raise the shortfall, this would then cost me a LOT more to shoot at a later date, and could delay the finish shoot for six months or more. I also want the club scenes to be the best I can get them.

I had to come to a decision today to try and solve this, because I can't book a lot of things I need if I don't have the full budget. Each part of the puzzle of a shoot affects many aspects of it.

The shoot still goes ahead, because if it doesn't, the whole film could collapse. But I need to do my best to secure that other £3k. I didn't want to do this, but I'm running out of options fast, so I'm going to launch another kickstarter campaign at the end of this week.

This one will only be for 7 days, and for £3k. I have a funding page on this website, but website funding pages never get as much traffic as campaign sites. Also, each time I have been on kickstarter, about 25% of the backers came from kickstarter traffic. People search for campaigns in genres they love.

I won't be just plugging kickstarter for a week to try and get the last of the funding, I'll be on the move pulling the film together. Again, I'm not looking for support from any backers who already funded on kickstarter. You have all been incredible! It's to try and attract more through the kickstarter platform, and new people via my socials.

if the kickstarter is successful, it means I get the funding shortfall for the week of the shoot. If not, then I shoot what I can, and shoot the film over six months. It's worth a shot trying this.

I might fall flat on my face and only raise £5 on it!, but I never worry abut failure. Failure is when you're not doing, trying, pushing, willing to fail!
